Come Play in Our New MakerSpace

Come enjoy our MakerSpace!

Makerspaces are places to create, build, and craft–places where people come together to create and share resources, knowledge, and “stuff;” places where people have an opportunity to explore their own interests, learn to use tools and materials, and develop creative projects. Makerspaces often include tools and equipment that are too expensive or specialized for most people to have in their homes, as well as provide a gathering place for like-minded hobbyists to create and collaborate.

A patron interested in the Beadwork Basics asked “what are they going to make?” The only answer is whatever they want.

The library is there to provide the framework, not to be in charge. We have the tools, the basic materials and the space.  We have books and experienced people to help you get started.

What you make is up to you!

Libraries are no longer simply a holding area for books, they are a place for people to gather, to share ideas and enrich their lives. Computers and internet are now standard and are often in demand. Unemployed individuals can come to the library and apply for jobs. Kids can do their homework (or play games) at the library. But did you know that libraries are now becoming much more than books, computers and internet? Libraries are becoming creation spaces, often called makerspaces.
